River View Bungalow
The River View Bungalow is a guesthouse located north of Vang Vieng on a little island opposite the backpacker strip. Two bridges connect the island to the mainland.
They have bungalows ons tilts or rooms in brick houses containing two rooms each on the ground and first floor. The room in the brick house is basic but spacious enough, with two beds and it had A/C. The en-suite bathroom had the usual set up with the Asian shower and toilet. Due to the location next to the river you might see cockroaches on occasions, but just because of the location and not because it is a dirty place. Outside the room there is a table and two chairs. A room on the first floor might be nicer due to the balcony as well.
At the southern part of the tiny island the guesthouse has a bar and place serving food. You can sit down at one of the few tables outside, sitting on a platform rather than chairs. It is actually a nice place for breakfast or just a wee drink.
The big advantage of the guesthouse is the great view, the river floating in front of you and the mountains in the background. Just crossing the little bridge and you are at the road with food places, tour agencies and bars. To the night market on the corner it is only a 2 minute walk, and to the main street 5 minutes. So it has a nice location.
The room was 120.000 Kip for the basic rooms, the bungalow huts were more expensive.
Overall it was a nice enough place to stay. You might get places in Vang Vieng with better value for money, but without the view.
