Xok Xai Guesthouse
The Xoc Xai guesthouse is one of the first guesthouses in Kong Lo village on the right hand side. It has one large wooden building with the rooms and a little wooden building where the owner lives. It is a few minutes walk away from the village centre, though it offers a great view towards the mountains and the village with the wide fields around it.
The rooms are in the long wooden buildings on both side of the wooden floor. The rooms are ok space wise, with a comfortable double bed, a desk, fan and A/C, as well as an en-suite bathroom. From the room you can get some nice view of the surrounding areas, especially from the rooms at the corner. Larger rooms are on offer too.
One problem of this lovely house is the wooden floor in the hallway, as it can be noisy when people walking outside or moving suitcases over the floor. This could be an issue for a very light sleeper.
There was no restauarnt on-site, but the owner did consider adding one. But you can easily walk to the village centre to get dinner. The advantage of the location of the guesthouse is the free space around the guesthouse – it offers a great view over the area, especially to enjoy the sun rise in the morning.
The owner is a very friendly man who can recommend some nice places to visit nearby.
Prices for the double room is 100.000 Kip, the single room only 70.000 Kip.
Overall it is a nice guesthouse in a lovely setting outside the village with comfortable rooms, offering good value for money. There are other good options a few minutes further inside the village, but you will not have such a nice view for a sun rise. Hence I would probably stay here again.
