New day, same procedure it seems. Getting up far too early (I classify 8am too early during a holiday!!!), enjoying the Maldives breakfast while my better half enjoyed the continental one and then I was off to the pier for my morning dive.
Our second full day was something I was very much looking forward to – seeing the amazing sea life underwater – and over water. Starting with my first dive trip on the Maldives and later the day trying to spot some dolphins.

Living in Vietnam has some advantages – for example you are not too far away to some of the exotic places you have always dreamed of visiting. For this year’s Tet (some people might know it as Chinese New year) I decided to leave HCMC to visit one of these places. I was finally going to the Maldives. However, this was not a solo trip for a change, as I travelled with my girl friend – our first long distance trip to be precise. So no pressure!!!
This was it – the last day of this so far amazing motorbike trip through the Mekong Delta. I twas time to head back to Saigon. So a last time getting up and packing the bag.
For our second last day we headed further north towards Chau Doc and covering some of the highlights in that area – including travelling along the border to Cambodia.
However, before we left it was time to explore Tri Ton a little bit. Actually, both of us wanted to see the market we spotted on our short walk the previous night. And if possible having breakfast there.
After our bike had a well deserved break it was time to pack our bags again, mount our bikes and depart Can Tho for our next destinations – the Mountains of the Mekong Delta and the certainly non-touristy town of Tri Ton.
For a change I didn’t have to get up, packing my bag and getting back on my back. No, this morning I had to be ready at the reception for 5am (!!!! ) – I repeat, 5am in the bl00dy morning!!!! Well – it was my idea to do a tour to the floating market, so I had to blame myself.
