For our second last day we headed further north towards Chau Doc and covering some of the highlights in that area – including travelling along the border to Cambodia.
However, before we left it was time to explore Tri Ton a little bit. Actually, both of us wanted to see the market we spotted on our short walk the previous night. And if possible having breakfast there.

After our bike had a well deserved break it was time to pack our bags again, mount our bikes and depart Can Tho for our next destinations – the Mountains of the Mekong Delta and the certainly non-touristy town of Tri Ton.

After a surprisingly good night sleep (was not waken up by the traffic noise outside) it was time to get ready and meet my sister at the agreed time at 8:30 to continue trip to our next destination – Can Tho. Surprisingly I didn’t make it.

I was looking forward to November 2018 for a very simple reason – my big sister (age wise, not height wise) arrived in Vietnam to visit her favourite brother (that is me in case anyone is wondering). As she is a big motorbike girl and travelled through countries in Asia and Europe by bike doing a motorbike trip was an obvious choice.

My second last morning on the island started as the previous one – slowly. Unfortunately my plan to attempt another dive day did fail, as the dive centre decided to head back to Turtle Island. So there was no rush in the morning.

After covering diving and relaxing on the beach I decided to do something else I have not done during my first trip to Phu Quoc – exploring the island by motorbike.

After my brief stay in HCMC it was time to visit a new place in Vietnam – which I always find very exciting: Phan Thiet here I come. And it was not just normal trip. I was invited to visit the family of my friend’s Thuy’s sister-in-law Thuy (2). So my first visit to someone’s family in Vietnam. Now that is even more exciting.

After saying good-bye to my travel companions it was also time for me to get ready to start the ride to the beginning of the whole journey – Cao Bang. The plan was doing an overnight stop on the way, staying another night in Cao Bang itself, and then take the bus to Hanoi. By now even I don’t even believe in any of my plans!!!

After my lovely stay in Meo Vac it was time to get back on the road, and start doing a loop I was hoping to do for a while – the Ha Giang Loop. Except of not starting it in Ha Giang town, but in Meo Vac.
