One advantage of living in Saigon is the proximity of some great places to visit – even if it is just a long (or in this case a very long) weekend. So I took the chance and decided to visit Phu Quoc island to relax for a few days.
After the late night at the pool party I did not go diving, and I took it very slowly. I managed to get breakfast and then took advantage of the location of my room. Off to the pool for a long swim, and returning to my room and balcony to stay there until lunch to read a book. Boy, it felt good to be lazy.
Even though I was in bed very late I didn’t want to miss breakfast. So I got up just before 9:30am, well, because food is only served until 10am. Sleep is overrated anyway.

After my brief stay in HCMC it was time to visit a new place in Vietnam – which I always find very exciting: Phan Thiet here I come. And it was not just normal trip. I was invited to visit the family of my friend’s Thuy’s sister-in-law Thuy (2). So my first visit to someone’s family in Vietnam. Now that is even more exciting.

After 3 nights in Quang Ngai it was time to continue my journey. The next stop was Quy Nhon, a town I heard about quite a bit, and it was on my itinerary from the start.

After Hoi An I decided to explore a bit the less touristy area between Hoi An and Mui Ne. The first stop was Quang Ngai. Instead of a boring train journey I decided using my favourite transport mode to get there – riding pillion on a bike.
