Saigon Cafés: Story M Cafe

Where: 51 Đường Trần Nhật Duật, Tân Định, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh City

Type: Indoor Café

Offer: Drinks & Food

Price: $$$

The rather interesting looking Story M Cafe is located on a rather quiet street near Hoang Sa in District, in one of the typical colonial style buildings.

The cafe has two floors, though I have only been to the ground floor. It has a rather interesting decoration – with some very nice photos from sights all over the world, shelves with books or old car models or other more retro style looking items. They have a number of normal tables and chairs as well as some lower tables with sofas and comfy chairs. Overall I like the layout and decoration. It looks different without being cheesy. Add to background music that is rather quiet than too loud and the result is a more relaxed atmosphere.

They offer the usual drinks – from coffee to juice and smoothies. But they also have some special drinks, including a variety of tea drinks and even cocktails or coffee with alcohol. They also have a limited choice of snacks like cake or croissant, as well as ice cream. However, they also serve hot food like noodle soup or dishes. They actually get the food from next door.

The lemon juice is nice, like you get in many other places. The Bun Nem Nuong was actually nice. So from that perspective I really could not complain

While I enjoy the layout and the food, I find the prices rather high. The ca phe sua da is 55.000 VND, the lime juice was 58.000 VND. The hot food is between 55.000 VDN and 65.000 VND. Some of their special drinks are over 100.000 VND. Overall I found the place too expensive. Though, on a positive side, it is a good place to work as it is rather quiet. So you might pay for that.

Overall it is not a bad place, but I think there are plenty of cafes that offer better value for money in my opinion. My rating is therefore purely on the the aspect value for money, as otherwise I would rate it higher.
