This place is actually both a full restaurant as well as a place to enjoy a drink. But I add it to the café list anyway.
Khu Du Lịch Bình Quới 3 is on the lovely island of Thanh Da, on the main road coming from the bridge. It is located next to the river, with tables offering a great view and a nice breeze. But this place is massive. In addition of the tables along the river there are some seating areas around the very large garden – and I mean large. A wide open green space with palm trees and some small ponds. It is beautiful.
Because of the spacious ground it is a perfect place for families, it even has a little playground for children. Perfect for a weekend day out.
If you are lucky to get a seat next to the river you get treated with a nice view and a lovely breeze. It was no problem to sit here in the middle of the day in June without melting too much. And it might beat the constant A/C places as well to get some fresh air.
They serve all kind of drinks, including alcoholic drinks (as it is more like a restaurant). prices are normal for such facilities and certainly more expensive than your little café along the road. But the value is still ok. The food is actually nice, though I only tried some of the smaller dishes – but I plan to try some of the dinner options.
If you have a larger group you ca book ahead to get one of the areas reserved.
The service during my first visit was ok – very friendly staff. However, during my second visit the waiter wanted to push us into a tight corner away from the river, while there were plenty of tables free without a reserve sign. Only when I declined and walked away did the manager become aware of the situation and suddenly it was ok to get one of the tables next to the river. He was not happy with his staff.
Other than that I enjoyed every visit. It is a great place to enjoy some fresh air away from the busy city – it really is a great little retreat – and I happily return for either lunch, dinner or just a drink to enjoy the view and breeze. I can certainly recommend it.
