Less visited than the north the southern part of Laos is a great area to explore. Near the little Kong Lo village is the impressive Kong Lo cave. From the border town Thakhek you can explore the Phou Hin Bun National Park or starting the Thakhek Loop, a 3 day motorbike trip. Pakse is the biggest city in the south, and is the best place to visit the Bolaven Plateau from. The village of Champasak is a small relaxing place near the Khmer ruins of Wat Phou. And close to the border to Cambodia are the 4.000 islands, a popular place to relax and enjoying the mighty Mekong.

Another place of interest is the town of Savannakhet, one I have unfortunately not visited yet.

Even though the places in northern places are more famous, a visit to the south is worthwhile.

Information about these places will follow soon
