Guardian Guest House

This lovely guesthouse is located in the Giza area of Cairo – opposite of the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza. I saw photos of the guesthouses online but only when I arrived I realised how close it really is to this Wonder of the World. It is breathtaking. So if you want to be close to the pyramids, this is the perfect location. The only downside is that the choice of restaurants is rather limited, and the hotel didn’t offer dinner.

You have a choice of rooms, single or doubles and either with or without view of the pyramids. Well – spending a little bit more money for the view is a no-brainer for me. I got a double room instead of a single, and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. But the highlight is opening the curtain and looking directly at the Sphinx. The only view that comes close to it was the view of Halong Bay from a boat. So full points for the room.
In the hallway there is also a little room where you can make tea or coffee.

The terrace on top of the guesthouse is perfect as well. Higher than the surrounding buildings the view of the pyramids. It is to easy to sit down and enjoy the view during sunset, sun rise or just during the day. And of course you can watch the light show for free – with a perfect view.

Breakfast is served as buffet at the reception area, including the usual Egyptian food like salad, bread, jam, eggs. Basic but very nice.  One nice thing is to take your breakfast upstairs to the terrace. What better way to start a day than with that view

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and even though I stayed there only for one day I enjoyed their company.

One important note: the consumption of alcohol is not permitted here. So please respect this policy.

Overall it is a perfect guesthouse if you decide to stay in the Giza area. Great value for money and I would come back here in a heartbeat.
